MediaScout shuts down due to lack of funds
MediaScout, the daily digital of what’s in Canada’s media, is calling it a day.
According to a note on its site, Maisonneauve magazine in Montreal can no longer support the service and it has not been able to find an alternative funder:
MediaScout will therefore continue to publish until December 19, 2008, at which point it will go into an indefinite hiatus. We hope to restart publication in future if the funding can be found. However, there are currently no plans to continue efforts to pursue such funding
Little over a month ago, MediaScout was asking its readers what they might be willing to pay for.
The site was run on a shoestring and yet it wasn’t able to find a model to keep it going, despite some 3,000 readers a day.
