Toronto Star releases iPhone app
The Toronto Star has become the latest Canadian news publication to release an iPhone app.
The app from Canada’s best-selling newspaper is free, with small horizontal ads along the bottom of the screen.
The homepage offers a list of local news, sports, business, entertainment, living and photo galleries.
Tucked away at the end of the menu is a mainstay of newspapers, horoscopes.
The app has a couple of neat features.
The weather is displayed on the top left corner of the homepage and a button on the top right of the screen to download articles to read offline.
However one frustrating limitation is the inability to customise the app.
There is no way to change the sections listed on the homepage or personalise the default navigation choices.
Hopefully the Star will address these issues in future iterations.
